and weavers working with Eri and Muga to share
their experience and get further information and
guidance form the experts and professionals who
had come from various parts of the country. Among
the various objectives of the workshop, the important
one was the assessment of implementation of UNDP

by the beneficiaries working with Eri and Muga
and evolving strategy for future planning for
development of non-mulberry silks in the region.
The function graced by Hon'ble Minister for Handloom

impact of the workshop was that the rearers got
exposures to the techniques of systematic rearing.
Similarly the spinners were given hands on experience
on use of modern Eri spinning machine which can
produce yarn many times more than the traditional
hand spinning with better quality and consistent
thickness of the yarn. Constraints in production
of adequate quantity of yarn for meeting the requirement
of weavers were identified. This included shortage
